Information for travelers

Although health measures have been lifted in New Caledonia, Nouméa-La Tontouta International Airport maintains until further notice a series of health measures within the terminal, including:

  • Wearing a mask is mandatory
  • Only passengers with a travel document are invited to report to the terminal.

Given the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic and the limited hotel capacities due to quarantine measures, regular international flights to and from New Caledonia have been suspended (except for exemptions) since March 20, 2020, and this , at least until October 30, 2021, unless the global situation improves by then. The airport does not have any information about flights schedule after October 30, 2021.

 

Flights to New Caledonia

Commercial flights are suspended, at least until october 30, 2021, unless the global situation changes by then.

We strongly recommend that you wait for the official announcement about flight suspension before rebooking airline tickets to New Caledonia.

Flights from New Caledonia

Flights to France are open. Families and relatives cannot accompany travelers to the airport due to the health situation. Only passengers with a travel document are invited to report to the terminal.

Non-students who wish to leave New Caledonia to go abroad or to France are invited to:

  • indicate their intention to leave by completing the non-student departure form,
  • go to the Aircalin website to find out about the flight schedule from Nouméa-La Tontouta and book their flight.

New Caledonian students who will soon have to go abroad or to France to pursue higher education are invited to:

  • indicate their intention to leave by completing the student departure form,
  • go to the Aircalin website to find out about the flight schedule from Nouméa-La Tontouta and book their flight.

ATTENTION : no guarantee of return on a specific date can be made. We strongly recommend that you wait for the official announcement about flight suspension before taking a plane ticket back to New Caledonia on the regular flights marketed by the airlines.

Health measures

  1. For flights to New Caledonia

Repatriation flights for Caledonian residents began on Friday April 3, 2020 according to a very strict health protocol which notably provides for a compulsory quarantine on arrival for all passengers, in one of the hotels requisitioned by the government. Families and relatives are asked not to come to the airport to welcome passengers, contact is not allowed. Shuttles are chartered to transport passengers to their hotel.

  1. For flights departing from New Caledonia

Aircalin flights departing from Nouméa-La Tontouta are authorized to return to their standard capacities. We invite you to contact the airline to find out about the sanitary measures on board.

  1. The right behaviour to adopt

When traveling, as in everyday life, it is everyone's responsibility to respect barrier gestures:

  • Observe the rules of social distancing when traveling and within the terminal building.
  • Wearing a mask is compulsory in all areas accessible to passengers, for anyone 11 years of age and over, with the exception of people with disabilities (medical certificate required). Passengers must therefore be equiped when entering the terminal.
  • Wearing surgical mask is compulsory on board.
  • The airport does not provide masks.
